SDL funding is meant to support the learning initiatives of IOM staff only. It excludes auxiliary staff (interns, consultants, etc).


The profile of IOM staff who can access such financial support is as follows:


• Holds a regular contract, one year fixed-term contract, special fixed-term contract, or special short term graded contract holders

• Has completed 12 months of continuous service in the Organization prior to the commencement of the external training

• Is expected to demonstrate the application of the skill or knowledge acquired from the learning event. A mechanism must therefore be put in place by the staff’s supervisor to monitor and report on this

• Current contract is expected to be renewed for at least six (6) months from the requested course start date

• Performance appraisal rating for the last two consecutive years is at least “Satisfactory” or above

• Has not received an IOM-sponsored/funded learning opportunity in the last 24 months

• Must have completed all IOM mandatory trainings.
