A cover letter and a motivational statement are separate but related items. Most cover letters contain a paragraph and explains your motivation to apply, however, the cover letter then goes on into more detail about skills and experience relevant to the position. You can certainly have similar motivational statements, however, keep in mind that you also have the opportunity to upload your cover letter in the online system. Utilize every opportunity to showcase why you are the best candidate!
