1. What is a non-catalog learning item in Wave Learn?  

While staff will see the 'request non-catalog learning' feature in Wave Learn, we request colleagues to please refrain from using it at this time. If you need to pursue a learning programme that is currently not offered within IOM or has a potential cost associated with it, please discuss that with your line manager as part of your professional development discussions. 


2. Do staff have to secure managerial approval for courses in the Wave Learn catalogue or are courses without approval available? 

Most of the courses in Wave Learn do not require approvals as SDL is keen to promote self-directed learning. If approval is required for a certain course, you will need to complete a questionnaire with the relevant details for further review by your manager and/or SDL, e.g. motivational statement, relevance to your work etc. 

 

3. I have issues with the status of some courses in my Wave Learn transcript, what should I do?  

Please open a ticket via the ICT self-service portal. Please share as much information as possible about the action you are trying to undertake, at what point you get blocked, what role you have (e.g., staff, manager), along with providing a screenshot. 

 

4. I cannot locate recommended courses in Wave Learn, do I need to include a filter to see this view? 

You will only see Recommended Learning once someone has recommended a course for you to take (this could be your manager, a peer or SDL).  

 

5. I noticed a ‘report’ option in the actions drop-down menu within a course in Wave Learn. What does that mean?  

The report button in Wave Learn allows learners to report courses if they find some aspects to be inappropriate; however, we encourage you to contact the training focal point or SDL via email if you find this to be the case. 

 

6. I am searching for courses that I have completed and/or other thematic courses I want to enrol in; how can I locate these in Wave Learn? 

For courses you have completed, or that are in progress, you will find them by navigating to My Learning in the lower left corner of your Wave Learn screen. You can then use the ‘enrollments’ filter to refine the results. 


7. Are ‘communities’ available in Wave Learn? 

Some colleagues might be familiar with communities from I-Learn. We have a similar functionality in Wave Learn and this will be used, for example, for certain programmes that have a social learning element. However, we are yet to begin using communities in Wave Learn; and, as and when these are integrated in learning programmes, we will provide guidance to colleagues accordingly. 

 

8. Are there any linkages between LinkedIn Learning, the Blue Line platform and Wave Learn?  

There is no technical linkage between your learning records on these platforms and Wave Learn. You may, however, add any completion certificates as external training to your Wave Learn transcript. 

 

9. I see the term ‘legacy’ in my Wave Learn transcript, what does it refer to?  

You will see this term for courses that you completed in I-Learn and that were migrated to Wave Learn to maintain a comprehensive record of your training history.


10. I attended several Wave user training sessions, and, for some, the status still appears as in progress or overdue in my transcript. How can my transcript be updated to reflect completion? 

This is a known issue and is being coordinated with Oracle for resolving centrally. This may, however, take some time to correct for all impacted users and a general update will be provided by SDL once the technical issue is resolved. 



11. When assigning training to my team as a Manager, which option should I select under the 'Nature of Request' field? 

This is a mandatory field so please review the options carefully when making your selection. If none of the listed options apply (e.g., mandatory courses), then please select the "Training/SDL Use Only" option and proceed with your assignment. 



12. I am trying to retake a completed mandatory training as needed for my job function/role. How can I do that in Wave Learn? 

As you have previously completed this mandatory training, if you need to retake it for a specific purpose and have a new certificate issued, SDL will need to reassign it to you in Wave. Until this reassignment happens, you may continue to view the course content from your previous course completion by launching the 'View Content' button; however, please note that this will not generate a new certificate. The course will need to be retaken again after it's assigned to you by SDL to generate an updated certificate. Please send an email to [email protected] with your request.
