SDL recommends using the Kirkpatrick Evaluation Model for trainings organized within the Organization. This model includes three levels of evaluation:
This evaluation is conducted at the end of the training (typically on the last day) to gather participants’ feedback and overall impressions.
A sample Level 1 evaluation form is attached to this article. This is also the default feedback form available in Wave.
A knowledge assessment questionnaire to be completed before and after the training. This evaluation measures changes in participants’ knowledge, skills, or competencies by comparing results before and after the training.
This type of evaluation is based on the Level 2 Knowledge Evaluation of the Kirkpatrick model of evaluation.
NOTE: SDL does not provide a standard template for this, as the content varies depending on the training. If Level 2 assessments (pre- and post-tests) are required for your self-paced course or instructor-led training, please attach them to your service request form.
This evaluation measures the longer-term impact of the training on participants’ work and performance.
It is typically conducted 6–9 months after the training. You may refer to the sample questionnaire used by SDL for guidance.
For multi-day trainings, you may also consider using a daily evaluation form to gather real-time feedback and improve delivery across sessions.
This evaluation is conducted at the end of each training day to gather participants’ feedback on that specific session. The insights collected can be used to make immediate adjustments and improve the remaining sessions.
At present, this feature is not yet available in Wave Learn. As an alternative, you may administer the evaluation using external survey tools such as MS Forms, Qualtrics, or other survey platforms, which allow you to easily track and monitor responses.
You may refer to the sample template attached to this FAQ.
