This FAQ article is intended for IOM units/individuals who are considered as training owners for courses published in I-Learn (IOM's LMS)

  1. What are IOM’s hosting options for trainings developed by IOM?
Hosting the course in IOM’s official learning management system for staff, called I-Learn, is free.

  2. Are there any cost related to the hosting (monthly or annual fee?)
SDL is covering the licenses for the use of the platform. However, please note that only staff members have access to it.
Alternatively, you may reach out to colleagues in IOM E-Campus [email protected] for hosting the course for IOM affiliates (interns, consultants, 3rd party contractors, etc.) and for external audiences. Note: SDL is managing the I-Learn platform, E-Campus platform is being managed by a different unit based in San Jose.

  3. Once the course has been published/uploaded in I-Learn, can the training owner still do some edits?
Making edits to the SCORM package of the course is possible if IOM has the license to the authoring tool used in creating the course. Both SDL and IOM E-Campus developers can make the necessary edits in the SCORM but this has to be coordinated with them directly. It is always best to:
      • Design the SCORM package using a standard authoring tool where IOM could easily purchase a license to make necessary edits in the future
      • If you anticipate frequent changes with the content, it would be best to add that content in an external material and embed the link to the material in the course  (for example a document or a web page where you could easily edit the texts without changing the location link). With this, you won’t need to involve SDL or E-Campus to edit the SCORM package itself. You and other stakeholders can simply edit the document that you have linked to the course.

  4. Can the e course developed by IOM be owned and hosted by government agency (donor)? Yes, this can be done and has to be agreed in writing like an MoU, best to check with LEG for the correct document. However, in your contract with the e-learning course developer whether its an internal or external company:
    1) the source files (the actual files used to create the SCORM package), and
    2) the SCORM package must both be delivered to you before closing the project.
