Leadership, Women & the United Nations (LWUN)
Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can G-staff apply for the LWUN?
For this programme, the target audience is limited to P4, P5 and NO-D female staff members only. Professional growth opportunities for colleagues in other staff categories continue to be offered by SDL and we invite you to follow our Yammer page for the latest announcements.
2) Can a staff member at the P3 level apply for the LWUN?
Within the Professional category, only staff at the P4 and P5 levels are eligible to apply as the UN System Staff College (UNSSC) is targeting senior women professionals for this programme.
3) Are staff members holding Ungraded (UG) contracts eligible to apply?
The LWUN application is currently only targeted at specific categories of Professional and National staff.
4) Since applicants should have worked at IOM for 2 consecutive years, should the entire time have been at the P4, P5 and NO-D levels?
Applicants need to demonstrate considerable and consistent experience in applying well-rounded leadership skills and making significant strategic advances within their scope of work at IOM. As the selection process is very competitive, ideally applicants should meet the 2-year requirement at the specified levels.
5) I participated in the LWUN several years ago. If the programme content has changed, can I apply again?
Only 5 IOM staff will be sponsored for this programme in 2024; therefore, if you have previously benefited from the LWUN, the applications of colleagues who have never participated in the programme will be prioritized.
6) Where can I read more about the LWUN?
You are invited to read the Stories of Impact and the course description on the UNSSC website.
7) Who will sponsor the programme fee?
The total cost of participation for selected participants (USD 5,500 per person) will be sponsored by SDL.
8) How can I check if I have completed all mandatory courses and/or which ones I still need to complete?
Please review these instructions to both access the list of mandatory courses and verify if you have any remaining mandatory courses to complete.
